Description
A very rare bacchanalian scene in a Bloodstone intaglio, on the far right we have the God Pan with cloven hoofs and a small tail playing his flute standing behind an erect Herm, in front of him is a flaming brazier burning offerings being given to him by a winged eros and in turn behind him is a naked female possibly a priestess accompanied by another Eros with a platter of food about to add it to the brazier, the overall scene of fertility is carved in the finest detail and dates to to the first quarter of the 16th century AD.
